Over the last three and a half years we’ve relished restoring the interior of this unique Spokane landmark, nestled quietly in a north Spokane neighborhood. Carefully reverting a dilapidated 5-plex back into what turned out to be the historic 1889 Muzzy Mansion, now listed on the Historic Register as the Muzzy-Shine House, she's a proud old dame with lots of stories to tell.

From an early Spokane Falls pioneer family arriving in covered wagon to stake their 160-acre homestead claim in 1880, to politics and prominence on a global scale - to step through the front door of the Muzzy Mansion is to step back into a rich ambiance of unfolding history spanning 130 years.

With challenging obstacles on many levels, some of them recently insurmountable, we hope, overall, we brought honor to our role as stewards, researchers and preservationists.

We’ve had a fantastic run, albeit shorter than we envisioned, as a Spokane B&B. From around the community and across the world, visiting guests from all walks of life shared with us their own dynamic life experiences and enlightened perspectives. Their laughter and conversations will always resonate from these walls and illuminate our memories of life in this house.

We’ve placed the Muzzy Mansion on the market as we move to the Washington coast. In time we’ll look forward to restoring another piece of history, in another place, and find a way of sharing it with the community.

Thank you for having shared this journey with us at the Muzzy Mansion!
